Mount Prospect, IL., June 29, 2020 -- With restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic easing across Illinois, the Mount Prospect Lions Club is excited to announce its weekly Farmers Market will be expanding beginning next month.

A community staple now in its 23rd year, the Farmers Market will be held rain or shine every Sunday morning from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm through October in the east Metra parking lot at the intersection of Emerson Street and Northwest Highway, downtown Mount Prospect.

Starting July 5, the Farmers Market will expand to more than 30 vendors, which will include those selling non-food items, along with all the fresh produce, fruits and vegetables the community has come to enjoy. With the expansion of the market, the Lions would like to provide a friendly reminder to the community that it will continue to strictly follow the rules and regulations set by the Illinois Farmers Market Association, and the Village of Mount Prospect's health and safety protocols.

“The community has been great and very understanding of these guidelines to help make our Farmers Market a success,” says Fred Steinmiller, Farmers Market manager. “We are sincerely appreciative of everyone’s patience as we have been working through this modified format and making this valued community event better and better every week.”

“We have been so pleased to be out in the east commuter lot again seeing many of our friends and neighbors who have been waiting so patiently, and vendors anxiously wanting to get out there again,” says Lions Club President Pat LeBeau. “We would love see you at our expanded Farmer’s Market and enjoy downtown Mount Prospect throughout this summer and fall.”

Steinmiller added, “If at any time you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact one of our friendly volunteer Lions Club members onsite at the event, via our Facebook page, or website. ‘We Serve’ is much more than a slogan. We are here for you.”
