The Mount Prospect Fire Department and the Village Nurse are partnering to host a free Pediatric CPR, Choking, and First Aid training session on Wednesday, May 13, from 6-9pm at the Mount Prospect Public Library, located at 10 S. Emerson Street. This collaborative program has been a popular and well-received community event for the past two years, combining the hands-on expertise of Mount Prospect firefighters with the health education focus of the Village Nurse.
In a pediatric emergency, every second counts, and the immediate actions of a bystander can make a life-saving difference. The Mount Prospect Fire Department is offering this training for free specifically to ensure that cost is not a barrier to learning these essential skills. The primary goal is to empower parents, grandparents, babysitters, and any other caregivers with practical skills and confidence to save a child’s life, whether that child is a loved one or a stranger in the community.
By removing the financial barrier to this training, the Village aims to create a network of prepared residents ready to act when it matters most. Participants who complete the session will receive an official Heartsaver® Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Card through the American Heart Association. Registration is required to attend and can be done by calling 847-870-5660.
