Mount Prospect Stories: Prohibition Era Mount Prospect

Thursday | November 14 | 7 – 8:30  pm
MOUNT PROSPECT PUBLIC LIBRARY
10 South Emerson Street

This October marks the 100-year anniversary of the Volstead Act—otherwise known as Prohibition.   Mount Prospect Historical Society Director, Lindsay Rice, will discuss what led to the ban on alcohol, how it affected Mount Prospect and surrounding areas, and what led the government to ultimately repeal the Volstead Act.  Join us as we explore the juxtaposed worlds of politics, the temperance movement, gangsters, and the quiet village of Prohibition-era MountProspect.

To register, visit Mount Prospect Public Library , call 847.253.5675, or stop by the library.
